Google Chrome (BETA) for Windows

September 4th, 2008 No comments

Here comes another good software from Google – Google Web Browser ! After installed and have a run, outstanding ! It feels really smooth and light.

After the installation, it let you choose where to import your data such as IE, Firefox etc. It works preatty much the same as FIrefox but lighter and slimmer. The interface is clean and neat which gives more space for web content.

However, Google chrome does not support plugin (soon perhaps). If you like plugins might as well still stay with Firefox until plugins feature is supported in Chrome.

Google Talk, Labs Edition

April 17th, 2008 No comments

Google Talk, Labs Edition is another version of google talk with additional features such as group chat, google calendar and Orkut notifications. If you use web googletalk before, you notice it can transform or rotate your smillies to a nice looking one. Previously this feature is not supported in the normal googletalk client, now the labs edition will have this feature included. However, in the Labs Edition, voice chat and file transfer is not included grrrrr.

If you are google calendar users and rely heavily on it for notifications, google talk labs edition is for you. You can customize how it notifies you and even snoop it. Yes, just like how you snoop your morning alarm clock.

Gecko is an open source, free web browser layout which used in all other Mozilla’s software such as Firefox, Thunderbird and the old Netscape browser. Gecko is one of the most popular layout engine beside Trident which was used in Microsoft Internet Explorer. Firefox 3 will be built on the latest version of Genko and comes with tons of improvements compared to Firefox 2. Check the followings features quoted from mozilla.org:

  • Fixes and improvements to platform features to improve security, web compatabilty and stability.
  • Continued performance improvements: changes to our JavaScript engine as well as profile guided optimization continues to improve performance over previous releases as measured by the popular SunSpider test from Apple, and in the speed of web applications like Google Mail and Zoho Office.
