Site migrated to VPSLink

April 10th, 2008 No comments

I have moved this blog and other 2 sites to my new VPS hosted at vpslink.com, runnning CentOS 5 with LAMP. I was amazed with the performance of this vps, really fast disk writing and connection. however the low memory (Link2 package) which only comes with 128RAM and 256 Swap space, I can barely survived to run all the basic applications such as apache, mysql, vsftp and apf firewall.

Cheap VPS hostings

April 5th, 2008 No comments

Just want to share with you guys that I have found 2 really cheap US based VPS hosting providers slicehost and vpslink. Price starting as low as $7 per month.

Well, the cheapest package from vpslink got only 64mb physical ram and no burstable ram available. Well, It is ok if you just want to learn or play around with a linux box, but memory is too low for running standard applications. For example, instead of running Apache, you will need to replace with lighttpd because of the low memory consumption. Therefore if you want to really max out your linux server, get atleast 256mb of memory.

If you are not a geek or experienced linux user, VPS is not for you. It is better to stay with normal hosting like share hostings, safer and easier for you since someone will be responsible on the server management.
