Woot, just after a short beta releases and now 2.6 is officially released.
I have upgraded to 2.6 now and so far so good.
Cheers
WordPress 2.6 RC1 has been released. I have upgraded my blog to RC1 and everything works well. Cant wait for the full releases.
Download here and changes:
WordPress 2.6 Beta 2 now available for download after second week of the Beta releases.
New in Beta 2:
Yeah, another new beta releases of WordPress. Some of the new features pretty impressive like the Theme preview, you can now preview the theme without activate it first ! Post Revisioning, what a great function to get everything logged and you can view them anytime and reverse any changes you have made. Again, this is still in beta version, use as your own risks
.
Download here and features as follows:
Version 2.5.1 of WordPress is now available after just about a month of the previous releases of version 2.5. Some of the changes including bug fixes, performance enhancements, and security fix.
Main highlights:
Apart from upgraded to WordPress 2.5, I also change to a new theme called LightBreaker. LightBreaker was designed by a Malaysian guy at wpthemesplugin.com, a normal blog layout with some interesting added features.
This theme comes with Adsense ready script and all you have to do is just change your adsense ID in a config file and you are ready to rock.
After upgraded to 2.5 version. Theres one problem with the new media upload function. When using FIrefox 2 and you try to upload a picture or video, it says in the image uploader “An error occurred in the upload. Please try again later”.
After doing some researches in the official WordPress forum, I found out I am not alone. This problem was caused by the server apache mod_security has been turned on and blocked the media uploader. If you do not have the permission to turn it off, you can turn in off by file basics by adding the following codes to your .htaccess file.
SetEnvIfNoCase Request_URI ^Your-Wordpress-Path/wp-admin/async-upload.php$ MODSEC_ENABLE=Off
Obviously you need to change the “You-WOrdpress-Path” to your installation path name such as “WordPress/” or “/” . This should solved the all the problems.
WordPress 2.5 full version finally has been released yesterday. It is identical with previous beta release RC1 and RC2. You can go here to read the full release notes.
I have updated this blog to the 2.5 version but you wont notice any different from the front end as most of the changes are in the back end administration panel.
Just after a week the RC1 was released, today wordpress announced the RC2 is out. There is no compatibility issues with themes as nothing has changed in core of the themes. A screencast also posted in the RC2 article showing how to play around with the WordPress 2.5.
I personally loves the new build in gallery system as it works flawlessly and doesnt required 3rd party plugins with is good for future compatibility.
